Northern Irish Architect Patrick Bradley’s design for his own house, featured in the 2014 TV series ‘Grand Designs’ took the use of unusual building materials to a new level, by using four steel shipping containers as the main body of the house. The containers were specially engineered to be jointed and stacked in a split level rural site in Mid-Ulster. Finished with large windows, sliding doors and clad in a mix of grey and rust coloured metal cladding, the result was amazing.
Topglass (with the support of Boxite Fabricators and Metaltech Aluminium Profile Systems) worked with Patrick to find the best glazing solution for the building. We also installed the internal frameless glass screens to help fully maximise the space and lighting.
