We are delighted to have raised funds for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), our charity partner for 2019.The Topglass team raised funds through various fundraising events across the year. The amount raised was then rounded up by our General Manager, Gary Lennon, and matched by owners, the McConville family, to make a grand total of £1,200.
Topglass’ Thomas Porter recently met with the crew at the RNLI Lifeboat base in Portrush to present them with the total raised.
“Having nominated the RNLI to be our charity partner for 2019, it’s great to be able to take that full circle and hand over the funds we have raised one year on.” says Thomas, “Being a fisherman myself, having taken part in competitions with the Ulster Sea Angling Team, I am aware of how integral the work that the RNLI carry out is to the safety of people in and around our coastline. All of the crew are volunteers and they receive no government funding so it's important to help where we can in order to keep this service going.”
Cathy Loughlin, Chair of Topglass’ Charity Committee, says “We are delighted with the contribution Topglass has been able to make to the RNLI. As a company, family and community values are central to the way we operate and conduct ourselves so supporting and contributing towards the local community is important to us. Our ‘Charity of the Year’ initiative was a new concept for 2019 and was well supported by our staff. Due to the success of this partnership, we intend on replicating it in 2020 with a new charity partner.”
