Topglass has recently put several members of staff through crucial first aid training and invested in potentially lifesaving equipment. Employees undertook a 3 hour AED (Automated External Defibrillator) Course delivered by Bmac Training. The course equips participants with the skills required to react to a cardiac emergency. Our staff underwent training on the techniques of CPR and on the operation of our new Telefunken Defebrillor Defibrillator which will be housed within our reception area.
“We are delighted to have this crucial first aid equipment available at our facility which will allow us to respond as quickly as possible in the event of an emergency.” Says the Chair of our Health & Wellbeing Committee, Cathy Loughlin. “As a company we are very focused on family values and looking after our people is of the upmost importance. Given the size of our team here and with plans for future growth, this investment ensures we are properly equipped with the appropriate first response tools and knowledge.”
In the event of a cardiac arrest, an AED in the minutes before an ambulance arrives can double someone’s chances of survival*. Currently Only 3% of cardiac arrests happen within the recommended retrieval distance of a defibrillator**.
